10 Mar 2009: Liverpool vs Real Madrid

Game: LIVERPOOL vs REAL MADRID
Type: Champions League
Date: 10 March, 2009

PREVIEW
Liverpool welcomes Real Madrid to Anfield with a healthy 1-0 lead from the 1st leg thanks to Benayoun's goal. Liverpool has the enviable record of remaining unbeaten in the last 20 matches in all competitions at home, albeit with almost as much draws as the wins. This is due to their tight defense which conceded an average of 0.60 goals per game. Nevertheless, their scoring average is nothing to shout about though, with an average of 1.50 goals per game.

Real Madrid is aware that nothing short of a win is perennial to ensure their progress to the quarterfinals of the Champions League. Their potent attack averages 1.65 goals per away game, which should give them the confidence needed ahead of this clash. They have also managed not to concede in their last 4 away. Another advantage for the visitors would be Liverpool's awful record against Spanish oppositions at home, winning only twice out of 12 times.

THE PICK
Its win or bust now for
REAL MADRID and they should know how important it is to score early. I'm backing them with a 1/4 ball headstart on asian handicap to progress further in this competition as Liverpool has yet to convince with their average displays.
